About
My focus is simple — to develop strategies that have impact and undeniable results while honoring God.
I lead from a position of trust and clarity — building teams that own outcomes and stay aligned through change.
I plan past the next quarter. The audiences, formats, and economics that will matter in three years shape decisions today.
Strategy is connecting dots others miss — across content, distribution, partnerships, and brand.
Deals, hires, and creative work all run on relationships. I invest in them like the asset they are.
Numbers are a language, not a verdict. I use them to ask sharper questions and avoid expensive guesses.
My walk with Christ spans 45 years with many mountaintop experiences ... and, many would say, a disproportionate number of valleys. The work ethic formation, and "character forming years" as my Mom & Dad would say, were those early years! From delivering papers to running lemonade stands to working at the carwash and helping with the family rental properties.
The marketing and sales career spans 35+ years. From selling family portrait packages at the mall (dating myself) … to selling electronics from the trunk of my car … to selling cookbooks and children’s books … to general contracting and "flipping" properties.
With no formal schooling, I managed to get a meeting with CEO Bob Smith and that landed me a great position as an Account Executive at Dur-A-Flex, the "Pioneers in Epoxy Technology." Before long I returned to school for business administration and marketing communications. For the next decade I had the God-given "ride of my life" as I began marketing and selling our products into small & medium sized businesses all over New England and moving into the Director of Marketing & Sales Support. Using basic development and communications tools, I developed a "Lunch & Learn" live tour for architects and engineers to get our products specified in more and more multi-million-dollar Fortune 1000 companies. At the time I was taking a class for relational database programming and worked hard on a project to develop data technologies to help us make smarter marketing decisions and steady Lead generation. That was the beginning of what we know today as "Funnels" and "Drip Campaigns" …God used my love to "geek out" on data — and pay attention to what it taught me to prepare me for the future doors He would open.
Fast forward a few years to some miraculous opportunities to sell complex risk management data API's & services with First Data. Driving new business as a Business Development Executive, I penetrated of the best-known Fortune 500 corporations in the insurance vertical including; Geico, Allstate, State Farm, and Progressive to name just a few. All thanks to an uber forward thinking VP there named Tim Maurer who gave me the proverbial "shot." At the time they were the largest payment processor in the world. I worked, and learned, in the First Data Solutions group — selling and learning for the next couple years until the group was absorbed into Merchant Services and I chose to make a change. Then, what I consider the biggest "break" for me into this faith space was meeting Scott Evans, Ron Forseth and Marc Harper at a pre-screening of the film "End of The Spear," the Jim & Elizabeth Elliot story. My wife and I were deeply moved by the film and impressed by how powerfully the medium of film impacted us. Equally impressed by these three men, I mentioned I was "interested in getting involved" ... that led to accepting an offer, and nearly a decade run in that space — online, in print, and in-person. The first to offer all three channels into the church leader space. As an integral part of vision and growth of; SermonCentral.com, ChurchLeaders.com, Outreach Magazine, and the National Outreach Convention the Outreach Media Group grew dramatically over the next several years.
I’ve been blessed to sit on the boards of Christian Schools, mission focused non-profits and work on many projects and opportunities including Co-Founding America’s Top Lists I have managed to live at the intersection of vocation and faith-based / faith-adjacent media, entertainment, publishing, and live event promotion — with adjacent work in education, higher learning, and consulting with various ministry organizations. The constant: helping purposeful organizations grow, while spreading the Good News and using data to be better stewards with their increase.
A few lines about what you're working on is plenty.
